Deep Blue Waves aims to repurpose plastic waste and donate to ocean cleanup foundations and AZA-accredited zoos. These initiatives support our environment and help protect ecosystems and wildlife. Below, you can sign up for our mailing list, get involved, donate plastic, or just reach out to us for more information.

Deep Blue Waves transforms plastic bottles into bird feeders, planters, and vertical gardens in an effort to reduce plastic waste that damages the environment.

Deep Blue Waves collects paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, and other donations to donate to AZA zoos in an effort to create enrichment for animals and support their habitats. Deep Blue Waves also collects monetary donations that are donated to various ocean cleanup projects.


Winifred Huber serves as the founder and president. She is passionate about the environment and is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, studying biology with minors in environmental science and communication studies. She is involved in many student organizations- namely Collegiate100, UNO Quiz Bowl, Honors Student Associati
Winifred Huber serves as the founder and president. She is passionate about the environment and is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, studying biology with minors in environmental science and communication studies. She is involved in many student organizations- namely Collegiate100, UNO Quiz Bowl, Honors Student Association, MavForensics (the speech and debate team at her university), and Black Excellence, where she is a member of the executive board. Winifred uses her voice to advocate for marine ecosystems and sustainability. She has experience in animal care, public speaking, advocacy, and education and has recieved regional, state, and national recognition for her efforts.
Hannah Matteo-Hupp is Deep Blue Wave's secretary and a junior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, studying geology with a minor in chemistry. Hannah is an advocate for scientific advancements and environmental conservation. She is involved in the UNO Women in STEM club, the American Chemical Society, the Nebraska Geological Survey, an
